Monique and James Detroit Engagement Session
Monique and James wanted city photos but something different than their wedding. Planning a Downtown Ann Arbor wedding, having their engagement session in Downtown Detroit seemed perfect. We wanted classy, timeless, elegant, and romantic vibes. I love starting the session with a little chit chat to get to know each other. It only took a few seconds to fall in love with Monique and her personality and see the steady love James has for her. Their photos were so natural with their chemistry together. I would help pose and prompt them and then cheer them on as their energy flowed and they just got to be themselves in front of the camera.
It was a chilly winter Sunday in Detroit. We started the session at Parkers Alley right behind Shinola hotel. Then we ran around, making our way over to capitol park. While running was a good idea to keep warm, we made our way over to Queens for a drink to actually warm up. Monique had been saving a special bottle to drink for a special occasion. What a better time than their engagement photos than to open it up. They toasted their champagne and looked out to the city soaking up this time together. We timed going over to the Fisher building around a show - however I had missed that the show would be getting out as we arrived for their photos. It encouraged us to get creative and cozy for the photos in the building and it absolutely worked out. There were so many people at The Fisher building - but Monique and James made it work and were the perfect people to go with the flow. We had the romantic lighting from the main hallways, the cozy corners through the gold doors, and it framed them perfectly
