Birmingham Proposal Story
Ross contacted me well before the proposal with a plan. He had a vision and an idea and knew exactly how he wanted to propose to his best friend. Ross had a vision of asking Alexa to marry him outside of Casa Pernoi in Downtown Birmingham. They have had date night dinners by the fireplace at Casa Pernoi in Downtown Birmingham and knew it would be a great place to have a sentimental proposal.
Ross found me on instagram after searching for a Detroit Wedding Photographer/Detroit Proposal Photographer / Detroit Engagement Photographer. I was so excited when he reached out and had a plan. We were able to chat on the phone - giving him reassurance I was there for him and wanted to document the moments he wanted and be on his team. Every proposal is different. Some situations I am a total secret photographer and I am hiding in the bushes or in a crowd downtown. However, in other situations it’s super obvious that I’m there taking photos with the set up. I love communicating before the day of the proposal what the expectations are so I can best respect the situation and allow for the person proposing to have their best moment,
Ross contacted the restaurant to make sure they had a private table set up by the fireplace with drinks, with a bottle on ice, and fresh roses! Ross was in contact with Alexa’s parents leading up to the proposal as Alexa thought she was having dinner including her parents! It was just another family night for them, but this time Ross had some plans in store for her. After Alexa’s parents dropped her off as they went to park the car, she was walking down the pathway leading up to the restaurant when she saw Ross holding a single rose for her. He walked up to her, lead her over by the fire, went down on one knee and had a private moment where he asked her to be his wife! She said yes!
After they took a few moments to soak up what just happened (and after they went inside to defrost!) we walked around the block to take a few portraits of the freshly engaged couple! Not only did Ross have a full surprise of proposing to Alexa, he also organized to rent the sign in front of the Birmingham theater right on main street! We walked down the road where Ross was able to surprise Alexa again and he revealed the sign to her.
It was such a beautiful intimate night and I loved being able to photograph their Downtown Birmingham proposal.
